Dandruff is a condition of the scalp that includes excessive irritation and skin being peeled off. It is not contagious and is not a serious illness, but having dandruff is a concern for the others.
Dandruff is another common condition that anyone can experience. it is caused by having dry scalp, it may be due to some skin diseases such as Psoriasis, Eczema and so on. Having dandruff will not only affect our health but will cause irritation and grumpy.
Dandruff is also the plating of dead skin cells on the scalp. It looks like tiny and oily scales. It is caused by frequent exposure to extreme cold or heat which can cause redness and itching of the scalp. It can also be caused by the death of skin cells where it is peeling off and replaced. But don't worry because this is normal. Another cause is there can be dandruff when Malassezia develops on our scalp a type of fungus that is naturally present on our skin. Another reason for this is the excessive use of hair products. Remember that dandruff is not contagious.
There are several possible causes of dandruff such as:
- Psoriasis
- Seborrheic dermatitis
- Yeast-like fungus or Malassezia
- Infrequently shampoo
- Dry skin
- The scalp is sensitive to used hair products
- Irritation
- Eczema
How to Get Rid of Dandruff:
1. Stop using styling products - Hair sprays, styling gels, mousses, and hair waxes, It can cause your hair and scalp oily.
2. Try using tea tree oil. This herbal helps reduce dandruff. Tea tree oil is extracted from leaves and is used as antiseptic, antibiotic, and antifungal.
3. Shampoo regularly - Use mild shampoo or non-medicated shampoo. Gently massage it into the scalp to remove skin flakes. Rinse it well.
4. Eat healthy foods - Eat foods that provide enough Zinc and B Vitamins that help prevent dandruff.
5. Use medicated shampoo if the case of dandruff is worse. - Look for shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid, coal tar or selenium sulfide. Nizoral 1% medicated shampoo removes dandruff due to fungi that inhabit your scalp. This shampoo can be purchased at the over-the-counter drugstore or sometimes it still needs a prescription.
How to Prevent Dandruff:
- Take a Bathe every day
- Rinse your hair well after using shampoo to remove the dirt in your hair
- Habit combing your hair
- Keep your body and your environment clean
